Sales of work support Victoria Shelter
Elfrida Schragen paintings speak volumes as they share the humanity of the working poor, impoverished elderly, mentally and physically challenged, addicted and the homeless who come to Our Place an inner-city community centre “Our Place“, in Victoria, Canada.
Our Place Society is an inner-city community centre serving Greater Victoria’s most vulnerable: working poor, impoverished elderly, mentally and physically challenged, addicted and the homeless. Individuals and businesses provide the majority of financial support for our programs and services. Our Place serves over 1,200 meals per day, and provides hot showers, free clothing, counseling and outreach services, plus 45 transitional housing units. Most importantly, we provide a sense of hope and belonging to our neighbours in need.
Elfrida reports on her Facebook Page: “I just received some photos of the subjects of my paintings as they stand with their portraits. Good feelings all around. These three portraits plus three others are still available for sale at $1000. All proceeds go to the shelter and you can keep the portraits or donate them back to the shelter where they will hang with a plaque with you name as a contributor to Our Place on it.
