Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The pandemic has strangled the sources of income for Subud PNW, and now we have a full blown fiscal emergency. We know how tired everyone is of being asked for money over and over again. However, that awareness doesn’t make our need disappear.

Therefore, we are applying a wrinkle to the age-old spiritual community fundraiser, the Bake Sale and Contest. There are several problems, however, with the traditional approach. For one, a lot of work is needed to bake these wonderful cakes, and secondly, those who buy the cakes often regret the effect on their waist that eating these delicious confections produce. Happily, a Non Bake Sale solves both these issues.

To volunteer to not bake a cake, just describe the cake that you might have baked. Then, simply donate the cost of the materials. Please, do not spare any creativity in describing the cake you won’t bake. And as a fun bonus, the Regional Board will be awarding ribbons, Blue, Silver and Bronze, to the top three imaginary cakes.
As for those who would never volunteer to bake a cake, but might be tempted to buy a beautiful, perfectly made cake, you can participate as well. All you have to do is identify a cake you would have purchased and just donate the amount you would have paid for such a valuable and tasty dessert. We offer you 3 possible cakes you don’t have to eat.

After each one is a suggested amount that the ingredients might cost, or how it might be priced. You can certainly buy more than one cake. After all, you will avoid more calories if you buy more than one cake!

2. The Best Vanilla Cake I’ve Ever Had. “With its outstanding vanilla flavor,
pillowy soft crumb, and creamy vanilla buttercream, this is truly the
best vanilla cake I’ve ever had.“ Sally’s Baking Addiction Vanilla Cake

3. Hummingbird Cake. When the Hummingbird Cake was first submitted
to Southern Living in 1978 by Mrs. L.H. Wiggins of Greensboro, North
Carolina, we had no idea the cake would become our most popular and
beloved Southern cake recipe ever.
