Subud members from western Washington and Oregon got together with Subud members in Spokane the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 23.
We did latihan, tested, ate lunch together, and shared life experiences. Spokane members included Renata Robb, Salamah Dick, Lucas Van Der Walde, Emmanuel Dorn, Ben Boyce, and Aaron Mann. National helper Morris McClellan, regional helpers Samuel Czuba, David Lynch, and Rayma Norton, and Oswald Norton made the trip to Spokane from Portland and Seattle. Hamilton & Miriam Brannan, and Roseanna Boyd who had hoped to join us for latihan, weren’t able to make it after all. We missed the opportunity to see them.

For some time, men and women in Spokane have done latihan in separate spaces and have limited opportunity to see each other regularly. This can present a challenge for ongoing group communication. Our latihan during this visit was in a space large enough to accommodate simultaneous latihan.

Our Saturday together was capped off by a visit to Renata’s home and a hike through nearby Manito Park in south Spokane. The trees, ponds, birds and flowers refreshed everyone. Salamah led us though paths to her favorite parts of the large public garden. We enjoyed a beautiful day.

Thank you to all and everyone in Spokane. Visiting and doing latihan together helped reinforce a feeling of connection between we who live on the western side of Washington and Oregon and our Subud brothers and sisters in Spokane.
